Atsuko Tanaka

Atsuko Tanaka was born in Osaka in 1932 and died in 2005.

In 1953 she a took part in the founding of the group Zero wich then merged into Gutai. She belonged to Gutai until 1965, when she left the group because of differences of opinion with Jiro Yoshihara.

The characteristic of some of her works are number symbols. Other are marked by pieces of fabric simply hung on the wall. Creations of a different type were also the "bells", and the "electrical clothes". Reminiscences of the round sharper of the bell, and of the light bulb seem to appear in her later paintings based on the interaction and entanglement of circles.
